Kate Thompson
Kate is an accomplished interior designer and sales professional with more than 33 years of experience spanning interior design, construction, product sales, and business development. She earned her BA in Interior Design from Montana State University, where she also played volleyball.
Kate spent decades building her career in interior design, working on high-end residential and commercial projects and developing expertise in design, construction documentation, FF&E, procurement, project management, and construction administration. After years in the profession, she embraced an opportunity to make a career change and made a significant pivot into product sales.
Today, Kate is a Regional Account Manager for Professional Flooring Supply, where she combines her design expertise with relationship-building, business development, product knowledge, and sales strategy. Her career journey has taught her that a career pivot doesn't mean starting over. It means recognizing the value of the experience, skills, and relationships you've already built and finding new ways to use them.
Kate is also the VP of Student Affairs for the IIDA Intermountain Chapter, where she is passionate about supporting students, emerging professionals, and the continued growth of the design community.
Outside of work and IIDA, Kate's greatest joy is her family. She and her husband of 31 years have five adult children and live in Sandy, Utah. She loves spending time with family and friends, exercising, playing sports and card games, attending plays, eating treats, and, most of all, laughing until her stomach hurts.
